Medicare is the federal health insurance plan for seniors 65 and over, along with younger people with certain disabilities. In Texas, more than 2 million people are enrolled in Original Medicare, over half of the 3.7 million seniors in the state. Beneficiaries pay up to $471 monthly for Part A coverage, depending on how many years they were employed and paid into the program. Part B coverage has the same premium for everyone, at $148.50 per month. In addition to Original Medicare, Texans have about 250 Medicare Advantage plans to choose from, providing flexibility for your health care needs and budget.
